Angie Pastor is an NYC-based singer-songwriter, jazz vocalist, guitarist, and teacher. She grew up listening to artists like Norah Jones, Carole King, Nat King Cole, and Ella Fitzgerald, as well as bands such as The Beatles and The Punch Brothers. Her diverse taste in music can be heard within the songs she writes. The most important thing to her around songwriting is to speak from the heart and create something meaningful that others can relate to. You'll find that the music she writes is a balance between pretty melodies with acoustic finger-picking, and upbeat tunes with a little sass and a beat that you can dance to.
Angie has pursued her passion for music from a very young age. Prior to her current studies with CCNY's vocal jazz program, she spent four years as a member of Eli Yamin's Jazz Power Initiative where she learned vocal and performance techniques from entertainers such as Catherine Russell, Carol Maillard, Marion Cowings and Cindy Hospedales, as well as piano with Eli Yamin and dance with Shireen Dickson and Micky Davidson. Her education continues with the help of many mentors, especially Eli Yamin, Nicole Zuraitis, Tom Dempsey, and Amy London. Each of them continue to help her evolve as an artist, musician, and person.
Angie has performed at many celebrated venues including Dizzy's Club - Jazz at Lincoln Center, The National Jazz Museum in Harlem, The DiMenna Center, The United Palace, The Jazz Loft, The Pridwin Hotel, The Sag Harbor Music Festival, Caffeine Underground and various open mics throughout New York City.
